The North Island was interesting, but the South Island was spectacular and we finally found the sheep.
The New Zealand terrain was amazing. They have it all; mountains that come down to perfectly flat valleys, everything green, snow capped mountains, gorges, valleys, rivers and beautiful coast lines.
The South Island was not without its excitement as well. We toured Skippers Canyon in a van that weaved around mountain road only a few feet from 200 meter drop offs with no guard rails. We took the Haast River Safari in a jet boat that drew only four inches of water while sailing over rapids and experienced the boat doing whirlies; all while taking in beautiful scenery.
We saw Milford Sound in the rain which provide waterfalls galore; not there on sunny days. The bus and train rides through the island yielded more variety and fabulous views; most interesting terrain seen anywhere.
New Zealand is a really beautiful, varied and interesting country.
I hope our South Island photos will give you some idea of how we enjoyed the rest of our time in New Zealand.
