The North Island was the starting point of our trip; more excitement, fun, beautiful scenery and wonderful fellow traveler relationships than we could have ever expected. Only a couple days into the trip and we were flying in a small plane, boogie boarding on sand dunes, riding luges; all while enjoy the countryside, scenery and fellowship of our new friends.
We flew to the light house at the northern most part of New Zealand, learned about the Kuria Tree, got educated on the beginnings of New Zealand, saw one of only three geysers in the world, took train rides, boat rides, a dinner cruise, and much more.
Probably our biggest surprise was that we saw lots of cattle and not that many sheep. We also learned that dairy is New Zealand's number two industry; second to tourism. Where are the sheep?
Hopefully, our North Island photos will give you some idea of our first week in New Zealand.
