In April 2006, we took our whole family, 15 in total, to the Moon Palace "All Inclusive" Resort in Cancun, Mexico for a week. This vacation coincided with Esther's 60th and John's 70th birthdays and our 25 wedding anniversary. Our only criteria to the family was that everyone eat dinner together each evening. We couldn't have been more pleased. It worked out much better than that. Many of the family ate breakfast together in the mornings, everyone spend most of every day together at the pool, we gathered together before dinner and, of course, we all ate our dinners together every night.
Something very special occurred during our vacation. We, Esther and John, wound up in a treasure hunt. We would continually received clues to look for money. The money, however, wasn't real. It was monopoly $500 bills. This went on for the entire week. It turns out the "make believe money" turned out to be real. Our children had all gotten together and on the final night of the week presented us with the real money and the literature to take a river cruise in Europe. This was an unexpected and very generous gift that we really, really appreciated. It wasn't only the gift, but that they thought enough of us to make that kind of effort and spend that kind of money. It brought tears to our eyes! The following year we took that river cruise on the Rhine and Mosel Rivers in Europe and had a wonderful time.
Having all of the family together in one place at the same time was very special. It was a wonderful trip, worth every penny, and we would do it again if it were possible to get everyone together the same time.
The photo album shows where we were, what we were doing, and how much fun everyone was having. The album is broken down in various galleries to make it easier to view the photos.
Enjoy!
