The Ireland in Depth tour started in Galway and went around the island counter clockwise to Dublin. Since we took the pre-trip extension (see the Optional Extension insert in the map on the left), we started in Belfast, went to Londonderry and wound up in Galway for the start of the regular tour.
We found out shortly before leaving home that Esther's nephew was getting married in Ireland. It turns out the location of the wedding was between Belfast and Londonderry on the same day our tour was traveling between the two cities. We left our tour for the day, took our own transportation to the wedding and then on the Londonderry following the wedding. We met up with the tour the next day. It worked out perfectly! We did miss one sight seeing location, "the Giant Causeway", but the tradeoff was worth it!
During our tour of Ireland we saw a lot of beautiful scenery, visited factories and mills, saw craftsmen spent up to ten years as apprentices, had lunch with a local family and much more. One of the highlights of out trip was seeing a sheep dog demonstration. The dogs were amazing!
We highly recommend visiting Ireland!
